The location was quite good for the purposes that I needed. Additionally the price was within the budget that I wanted to spend.
I found the bed to be extremely hard and very lumpy. The pillow also wasn't comfortable at all. I have sleeping issues, and so this certainly didn't help.

Average corporate hotel in a questionable area
One of the gentlemen spoke good English and was very helpful. There is a FamilyMart directly up the road, and a Streetcar stop a 10 minute walk away that connects to Kumamoto Station and other hotspots.
The hotel is in a little bit of a questionable area, and I often found groups of Japanese men hanging out directly outside. Some of them seemed to be guests and were rude to me in the lobby (likely because I am a foreigner), but the staff didn't say anything. Though the price is good, the hotel isn't anything special - you can definitely find a corporate hotel at the same price point without the strange clientele.
